Magic is a fantasy. Superheroes are fantasy plus myth. We love superheroes like Batman because we fantasize that with the right training we, too, could do that.
Andy Warhol, modern master of fantasy, once said "fantasy love is much better than reality love." With sidekick Nico as a Pop Art Dynamic Duo, he declared: "Once you 'got' Pop, you could never see a sign the same way again. And once you thought Pop, you could never see America the same way again."
Houdini trumps them both. He combines the fantasy of magic with the myth of the superhero. Famous in reality, for far longer than 15 minutes, Houdini is the man who attained.
