HAVE YOU SEEN THIS?

Jerry Andrus, with his fans Penn & Teller, in Jerry's "Impossible Box"

Following the trail blazed by Houdini the scientist, you could argue that, in his way, Jerry Andrus has been more influential than Harry Houdini. The late and much lamented Andrus was the world’s foremost creator of optical illusions.

Like Penn & Teller, the world's greatest magicians made frequent pilgrimages to the "Castle of Chaos" to see Jerry's always original illusions.

"The Castle of Chaos," Jerry Andrus' home for 75 years, until his death in 2007. Landmark status applied for.
But it was not only magicians who regularly visited the old gingerbread Victorian in Albany, Oregon. MIT professor Marvin Minsky, considered the father of artificial intelligence, used to say, "Whenever we run out of ideas we just go see Jerry Andrus."

Inspired by a simple man who opened his eyes and discovered the universe, we'll be memorializing the eleven-dimensional world of Jerry Andrus at the Washington Symposium on Magic History, and in future posts.
