We walked by Borough Hall in Brooklyn yesterday and it must be some kind of videomancy that led us to the film footage below. It shows Houdini's brother, Hardeen, doing the Metamorphosis on the steps of Borough Hall. Brooklyn has been the center of the world since the Roaring '20s, at least!
Hardeen's assistant appears to be Miss Trixy, pictured above, dressed a la Bess. She looks a lot like Bess, and Hardeen, at least in his younger days, looked a lot like Harry.
We recall reading long ago about a "bi-location" illusion performed by Houdini, in Germany, if memory serves. Clearly, Hardeen was on one end, Harry on the other. Does anyone out there have more info on this? We can't seem to find it in any of the books.
