What we have here is a two dimensional representation of the fourth dimension. Jonathan Harris is drawing a Klein Bottle. The flat version, the Moebius Strip, twists a two dimensional object into the third dimension. The solid version - the Klein Bottle - twists a 3-D object into the fourth.
Here's another, also by Harris:

This is stuff that all magicians, philosophers, artists and pataphysicians need to know. Nikola Tesla patented an electromagnetic Moebius Coil in 1894 as part of his system of wireless transmission. Superconductors, molecular engines, graphene - all Moebius tech. Peptides contain Moebius topology. Don't get me started - it never ends.
