HOUDINI UNBOUND CANDIDATE FOR PULITZER PRIZE!

We are delighted to announce that, after 14 years of work, our book about Houdini in Russia, HOUDINI UNBOUND, will be coming out in November, 2017. It's a novel based on true events.

Even better: it's an official candidate for the Pulitzer Prize in Fiction!

The publisher, Hudson River Books, is a boutique New York house specializing in "fiction, biography, belles lettres, journalism and surprises."

It'll be available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and at fine bookstores worldwide, including Shakespeare & Co. in New York.

The cover design, above, is by Fidel Sclavo, a marvelous artist and designer living in Buenos Aires.

This blog will serve as a three-dimensional companion to the book, and will continue to stand on its own for those poor souls who can't find a copy because it's sold out!

If you have any interest in autographed copies, please send a message via our Comments page.

FAQ: many books are nominated for the Pulitzer before they've been published, especially those scheduled for publication late in the year.

  1. This is sensational news in every way, David. Congrats! Hoping the book will include a little addendum in which you'll share some of the facts behind the fiction.

  2. Thank you, John! Of course, we're delighted beyond words! We're planning to use The Houdini File as the "true fact" repository, rather than adding another chapter to the book itself. Publishers these days do not want to go over 100-thousand words!

  5. Again, VERY excited for this book. I still recall our conversations at the DC Symposium on Magic History a few years ago. I've anxiously awaited the publication!
