PLAY THE HAND YOU'RE DEALT

In an earlier post we introduced you to Richard Turner, an extraordinary performer who fooled the eyes off Penn and Teller. Later this month a feature documentary about Turner is breaking wide, premiering in New York and then playing Los Angeles and a raft of theaters from coast to coast. It's also going to be available on iTunes.

The film, called Dealt, was a big hit at Sundance. It's his amazing, inspiring life story: at age seven, he became infatuated with everybody's favorite TV show Maverick, starring James Garner as a smooth-talking card shark. He began to practice with cards and by age nine - he began to go blind!

Suffice it to say that since then he's been called, by Dai Vernon, "the most skillful card expert in the world." Just for fun, he also has performed as a trapeze artist and has a sixth degree black belt in karate. He never tells his audiences that he is blind.
