We continue to be fascinated with Houdini's family connection to the Herrmanns, the magic dynasty that both preceded and succeeded Harry's own dominance of the field.
Browsing Houdini's scrapbooks, we came upon his personal collection of posters connected to Compars Herrmann, the world's foremost magician in the 1800s.
As we've written previously, Houdini's father, Dr. M.S.Weiss, married a close relative of Compars Herrmann's wife, known to the world as Rosa Csillag. Herrmann was the world's foremost magician and Csillag was queen of the Vienna State Opera. Together, they were the world's premier couple of the performing arts. When she and he performed together, as billed here, they were one of the biggest draws on earth.
