LEONARDO & HOUDINI

Commemorating the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's death, we present a Renaissance special featuring The Two Michaels:

Our friend Michael Gelb has been channeling Leonardo for more than 20 years, chronicled in his international best-seller How to Think Like Leonardo da Vinci. Michael began as a juggler. Da Vinci, among all his other skills, was himself a superb juggler. Houdini began magic as a card manipulator - a specialized form of juggling.

Michael Moschen, the world's foremost living master of touch, has transformed an ancient circus skill into a meditation, a work of art, of music, of sublime content. We'll never forget the time we saw him perform in person at the Brooklyn Academy of Music - every famous juggler in the world was in the audience, and a raft of famous magicians!

Does anyone doubt Houdini was a Renaissance man? Artist, scientist, writer, historian, athlete, philanthropist, businessman, magician - of all people in modern times he possessed Leonardo's essential quality of curiositá. And his admiration for deep skill is legendary.

Why do we still study and admire these men, long after their passing? Because, as the Two Michaels demonstrate, they show us how to live!
